Physical Health

Physical health is arguably the most important of the seven dimensions of well-being.

I have a genetic mutation which didn't show up in an obvious way until March of 2013. It's called Hemiplegic Migraine. The simplest way to explain it is that it's like a stroke which turns itself on and off several times a day. At times I cannot walk properly. At other times I cannot talk properly. Literally everything that is controlled by the nervous system can go on the fritz. It's called "hemiplegic" because the most notable symptom is that half of the body is partially paralyzed on a regular basis.

My family and I have learned to crack jokes as it is happening so that it won't be too scary or uncomfortable. Our favorite symptom is when have expressive aphasia. Sometimes it's as simple as saying the wrong words, or saying words in the wrong order or with the wrong grammar. Other times all my words start with an "M" sound. Once for about 20 minutes I could only speak and think in German!

Things that I do to care for my physical health include yoga, dancing, hooping, gardening, cooking yummy healthy foods, practice HeartMath, and taking a variety of vitamins and supplements.
